Bombing Yemen Is Not America First, Here's Why

The 'Signalgate' leaked chat logs revealed by The Atlantic is a story which has taken over headlines in America, with outraged Democrats gunning for the jobs of national security adviser Mike Walz and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, but as is typical with all post-9/11 'state secrets' scandals, a deeper conversation centered on America recklessly jumping into wars abroad with not so much as a hint of Congressional authorization has been completely absent.

But it was Vice President JD Vance's contribution to the signal chat which constituted at least some degree of effort to reign in Washington's penchant for 'bomb first, debate later' military adventurism in foreign lands. The person in the chat identified as "JD" had initially called the proposed March 15 bombing of Yemen (attacks which have continued over a week-and-a-half later) a "mistake"

He wrote that "there is a strong argument for delaying this a month, doing the messaging work on why this matters, seeing where the economy is, etc." - but then later in the chat said he'd be willing to go along with the consensus.
