Nov. 11 (UPI) — Vice President Kamala Harris, a week after her loss to Donald Trump in the general election, will appear with President Joe Biden at Arlington National Cemetery for a Veterans Day Ceremony touting the administration’s success for military members.

Biden and Harris will attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with first lady Jill Biden and second gentleman Doug Emhoff. Biden will then make remarks at the cemetery’s amphitheater.

Biden is expected to highlight the record-low numbers of veterans experiencing homelessness around the country, the administration’s expansion of disability benefits eligibility and records for care and benefits delivered to them.

According to the White House, the administration “delivered more benefits and health care, more quickly, to more veterans than ever before.” The Veteran Affairs Department doled $187 billion in earned benefits to 6.7 million veterans and their survivors.

The VA also processed 2.51 million disability claims and took 131 million healthcare appointments and six million dental procedures. The VA has also provided assistance to more than 88,000 family caregivers.

The administration said it will move forward with new plans to expand benefits for toxic-exposed veterans, cut homelessness by helping veterans stay in their residents through various programs, along with plans to support student veterans.

“These new announcements build on the administration-wide actions to support veterans and their families,” the White House said.
