House building got a big boost from the fall in interest rates last month.
Residential housing starts rose 14.8 percent to an annualized rate of 1.56 billion, data from the Commerce Department showed Tuesday.
Starts of single-family houses jumped 18 percent, hitting the fastest rate since April 2022.
