Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered a high ankle sprain during the Jaguars’ defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals but there is no timetable for his return, head coach Doug Pederson said Tuesday.

Lawrence was injured during the fourth quarter of the Jaguars’ 34-31 overtime loss on Monday, leaving the field for treatment after team-mate Walker Little inadvertently stepped on his ankle.

Pederson gave a positive outlook for Lawrence’s injury on Tuesday, saying the quarterback would be re-evaluated later in the week.

“It’s a right high ankle sprain,” Pederson said. “Everything’s stable, everything looks good. We’ll see where he is in a couple of days.”

Pederson was cautious about the possibility that Lawrence could return for the Jaguars’ fixture against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

“I’m not going to put that timetable on Trevor,” Pederson said.

“I’m not going to put him in a box like that. But we’ll see how he is in a couple of days.”

Lawrence, the No.1 pick in the 2021 draft, has helped Jacksonville to an 8-4 record this season, averaging just over 250 passing yards per game.
