Jon Rahm calls for porta-potties on every hole as PGA Tour evolves

Aug. 9 (UPI) — While many are inundated with major golf issues, including a potential PGA Tour-LIV Golf union, Jon Rahm’s focus remains on a peculiar, yet reasonable matter: getting porta-potties placed near each hole at tournaments.

Rahm was answering a question about what he would change about the PGA Tour during a news conference ahead of the 2023 St. Jude Championship on Tuesday in Memphis.

The Tour has made several changes to its format, prize money and more after many top players defected to compete in the rival, Saudi-funded LIV Golf Series.

“I can tell you right now, my priorities are a lot lower than what a lot of people would think,” Rahm told reporters. “If I go by requests, I know this is going to sound very stupid, but as simple as having a porta-potty on every hole.

“I know this sounds crazy, but I can’t choose when I have to go to the bathroom. I’ve told the Tour this many times. As simple as that. Just simple little things better for the Tour.”

Rahm also advocated for more consistency with player food and improved workout facilities.

“We are making the Tour better for the players, and I mean that,” Rahm said.

Rahm — the FedExup Cup standings leader — will tee off alongside Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy in the first round of the St. Jude Championship at 10:26 a.m. EDT Thursday at TPC Southwind.

Tournament coverage will air on Golf Channel and CBS.
