Feb. 19 (UPI) — KFC announced plans to shift its corporate headquarters from Kentucky to Texas.

In a statement Tuesday, the global fried chicken chain said it is moving its headquarters from Louisville to the Dallas suburb of Plano.

KFC’s parent company Yum! Brands said Pizza Hut Global is already in Plano and will make room for 100 KFC workers over the next six months.

Officials said about 90 remote employees will have 18 months to make the move to Texas. Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill, which are also subsidiaries of Yum! Brands will keep their headquarters in Irvine, Calif.

“These changes position us for sustainable growth and will help us better serve our customers, employees, franchisees and shareholders,” David Gibbs, Yum! Brands CEO, said in a statement. “Ultimately, bringing more of our people together on a consistent basis will maximize our unrivaled culture and talent as a competitive advantage.

“I’m confident this is another important step in growing our iconic restaurant brand globally.”

Yum! Brands, which will keep its parent headquarters in Louisville, said it plans on continuing its brand presence in the city by building “a first-of-its-kind flagship restaurant” there.

The company said it will be increasing its endowment to the College of Business at the University of Louisville and continue to support the Yum! Center for Global Franchise Excellence there.
