Three-time American League Most Valuable Player Mike Trout will miss the remainder of the Major League Baseball season with a left knee injury, Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian said Thursday.

The 32-year-old American outfielder has a torn meniscus in his left knee, the same knee on which he underwent surgery in May to repair a meniscus tear.

The move came two days after Trout’s developmental-league rehabilitation assignment was paused after what the Angels called a setback. An MRI showed the latest meniscus tear.

The 11-time MLB All-Star outfielder has belted 378 career home runs with a .299 batting average and 1,648 hits in 1,518 games.

Trout, however, has not played in more than 119 games in any of the past five seasons due to injuries. He had appeared in only 29 games so far this season.

Last year, Trout missed 80 games with a broken hamate bone on his left hand. He played in only 36 games in 2021 after straining his right calf.
