MIAMI, Nov. 7 (UPI) — Tua Tagovailoa and Daniel Jones are among my five must-start fantasy football quarterbacks for Week 10.
Lamar Jackson leads my Top-20 quarterback rankings, which are below. Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts and Tagovailoa are among my other Top-5 plays. Brock Purdy, Sam Darnold, Jared Goff, Aaron Rodgers and Jayden Daniels round out my Top 10.
My Week 10 running back and wide receiver rankings remain available for your preparation. My free-agent targets article is available here.
My positional rankings will continue to be updated for developments, including injuries. Jordan Love and Geno Smith should be benched, as the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks, along with the Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders, serve Week 10 byes.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who sustained what appeared to be a serious hamstring injury in Week 9, can be dropped.
Brock Purdy, Sam Darnold and Jared Goff join Tagovailoa and Jones as my must-start options. Several streaming options also can be found within my rankings.
Each of my must-start options land inside the Top 14 of my quarterback rankings.
Tua Tagovailoa
Tagovailoa, who is set to play in just his fifth game this season, is my No. 5 option for Week 10. The Miami Dolphins playmaker is coming off his first game of 2024 with multiple touchdown passes. He also eclipsed 230 passing yards in each of his last two appearances.
This week, the Dolphins will face a Los Angeles Rams defense that just allowed 363 yards and three scores to Geno Smith in Week 9 and 240 yards and two scores to Sam Darnold in Week 8.
The Rams allowed the eighth-most passing yards (245.6) and tied for allowing the fifth-most touchdown passes (1.9) per game to quarterbacks through nine weeks.
Look for Tagovailoa to provide his best performance of the season in this Monday Night Football meeting.
Brock Purdy
Purdy is another elite option for Week 10, when his San Francisco 49ers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game I expect to be a shootout.
The 49ers passer averaged the eighth-most fantasy points per game among active quarterbacks through the first nine weeks of 2024. He threw for more than 200 yards in each of his first eight appearances. He also ran for more than 25 yards in four of his last six games.
He will now face a Buccaneers defense that allowed the second-most fantasy points, third-most passing yards (273.9) and tied for allowing the third-most touchdown passes (2.0) per game to quarterbacks this season.
The Buccaneers surrendered at least three passing scores to quarterbacks in four of their last five games, including each of their last three meetings. They allowed an average of 320 passing yards and 3.4 passing scores per game from Week 5 through Week 9.
Running back Christian McCaffrey’s expected return to the 49ers’ talented arsenal of playmakers should assist Purdy in being the next quarterback to take advantage of this spectacular matchup.
He is my No. 6 play.
Sam Darnold
Darnold sits right under Purdy in my Week 10 quarterback rankings. The Minnesota Vikings quarterback threw multiple touchdown passes in each of his last two starts. He also threw for a season-high 290 yards, while finding the end zone three times, in the Vikings’ Week 9 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
This week, Darnold and the Vikings will face a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that allowed the most fantasy points, second-most passing yards (275.3) and tied for allowing the most passing touchdowns (2.1) per game to quarterbacks through nine weeks.
I expect Darnold to throw for at least 300 yards and to find the end zone for two or more scores Sunday in Tampa, Fla.
Jared Goff
Goff completed a league-best 74.9% of his passes through his first eight starts of 2024 for the Detroit Lions, who lead the NFL with 32.3 points per game.
He threw for just 145 yards and one score against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9, but entered that matchup with a streak of five-consecutive games with multiple touchdown passes.
Look for Goff to get back on track over the next few weeks, starting with a Week 10 meeting with the Houston Texans. The Texans allowed just 190.7 passing yards per game, but also tied with the Jaguars for allowing the most passing touchdowns (2.1) per game through nine weeks.
Goff, my No. 8 option, can be started as a QB1 down the stretch.
Daniel Jones
Jones is not a weekly starter, but can be plugged in as a streamer in Week 10 for teams dealing with bye weeks, injuries or bad matchups. The New York Giants quarterback accounted for a season-high three total scores in a Week 9 loss to the Washington Commanders.
Jones threw two touchdown passes in four of his last eight games, but also failed to find the end zone in the other four appearances. He is a bit of a risky play, but I expect at least 200 yards and two total scores from the Giants quarterback on Sunday, when he faces a Carolina Panthers defense that allowed the fourth-most fantasy points and tied for allowing the third-most passing touchdowns (2.0) per game to quarterbacks through nine weeks.
Jones is my No. 11 option.
