Life In The Longhouse

Readers may recall the name Christopher Rufo: as I've written here before, he is arguably America's most successful conservative activist, and has led the charge against schools pushing degeneracy. He just released a video explaining a lot of the insanity we've seen recently in America. In a nutshell, the Left has weaponized its mental illnesses against the rest of us.

For those you'd like a longer summary of the video before watching it (it's only about 12 minutes long), I've prepared an outline of its main points below. Following that, we'll close with a brief update on the two trading ideas I mentioned here earlier this week.

The Cluster B Society

  1. Introduction:

    • Society is witnessing outbursts that seem like a mental breakdown.
    • There's a new pattern of psychological dysfunction affecting institutions, corporations, and high offices.
  2. Historical Context:

    • Post World War I had the "Lost Generation."
    • Mid 20th century was the "Age of Anxiety."
    • 50 years ago, there was the rise of the "Culture of Narcissism."
  3. Cluster B Society:

    • Influenced by social media, leading to increased narcissism, hysteria, and emotional volatility.
    • Four specific psychopathologies: Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Histrionic Personality Disorder, and Anti-social Personality Disorder.
    • These disorders are now shaping societal structures, replacing disagreement with accusation and enforcing compliance through threats.
  4. Historical Treatment:

    • Previously, personality disorders were seen as problems and kept at society's fringes.
    • Now, these disorders are celebrated and have been elevated to positions of power.
  5. University Influence:

    • Universities are described as the primary breeding ground for these pathologies.
    • The rise in female college administrators has led to a focus on safety, harm, and victimization over academic achievement.
    • Students are constantly told they are under threat, leading to a mental health crisis among them.
  6. Corporate and Social Media Influence:

    • Major corporations are promoting these disorders.
    • Social media platforms, especially TikTok, are breeding grounds for these disorders, especially among teenage girls.
  7. Political Influence:

    • Left-wing violence is described as having the traits of Cluster B disorders.
    • Violent personalities are linked to left-wing authoritarianism.
  8. The "Longhouse" Regime:

    • A matriarchal form of society that privileges values of care and concern.
    • There's an imbalance between male and female leadership, leading to a society where identity is rewarded over merit.
  9. Conclusion:

    • The video suggests that society is moving towards a future dominated by these disorders, and there's a need to restore balance, order, and sanity.

Restoring order and sanity sounds easier said than done, but let's hope it happens. In the meantime, let's try to make some money.

Update On This Week's Two Trade Ideas

This week, we looked at two trade ideas, the first another biotech lottery ticket

And the second, an oversold domestic oil company that could work as a buy-and-hold.

Two quick updates on those:

  • The biotech stock popped more than 12% yesterday on no news. As a result, the calls we mentioned buying for $0.90 traded at $1.20 yesterday. If the catalysts we wrote about come through, those entering at $1.20 will make money too, but obviously, the lower your entry point the better.
  • The oil stock has a more modest bump yesterday of about 2.5%. Presumably, Goldman Sachs hiking its price target for oil to $100 per barrel will be a headwind here.

In the near term, we're researching a few other trade ideas on the short side. If you'd like a heads up when we place one of them, as always, you can subscribe to our trading Substack/occasional email list below.
