Last week, Deutsche Bank published its latest must read Long-Term Study (available to pro subscribers here), which looked at the first quarter century (QC) of the new millennium and found huge geopolitical and economic realignment with the promise of more to come in the next. While we will have much more to say about the study this week, in this post we take a look at one of the core themes: the rapidly changing global power alignment in terms of global GDP (in US$ terms), where we have seen the following notable changes between 2000 and 2024.
- US from 29% to 27%
- China from 3% to 17%
- EU from 24% to 18%
- Japan from 14% to 4%
- India from 1.4% to 3.5%.
