Death And Honor In The Ukraine

Andrei Grigoriev.
Andrei Grigoriev, a Russian Yakut soldier, recounts his fight to the death.

Bronze Age Combat In The Space Age

In our last post (The Final Investing Frontier), we mentioned Elon Musk's SpaceX.

As Elon Musk has said, SpaceX's Starlink system has been the backbone of Ukrainian military communications, "because everything else has been blown up or jammed by Russia".

In all the talk of satellites, drones, and hypersonic missiles though, the reality of war still sometimes boils down to men and blades, as has been the case since the Bronze Age.

Single Combat In The 21st Century

A knife fight between two soldiers happened recently in the Ukraine, one that was extraordinary for two reasons. The first is that it was captured on video, both by the helmet cam worn by the Ukrainian soldier, and also in part by a drone. The second reason it was extraordinary was the way it ended, with the defeated Ukrainian praising his opponent's fighting skills and asking the Russian to let him die in peace--and the Russian acceding to his wish.

The Russian soldier, Andrey Grigoriev, is an ethnic Yakut, from the Republic of Sakha in Siberia.

Here is a video of the fight from the Ukrainian soldier's helmet cam.

And here is the video from the drone.

And here is the interview with Grigoriev

Hopefully, Trump succeeds in ending this war, so no more Ukrainians or Russians have to die like this.

Let's wrap this up on a more positive note with follow up on a previous post.
