Sept. 19 (UPI) — JetBlue said Thursday it plans to set up airport lounges at two major Northeast airports beginning next year.

JetBlue said the first lounge will open at Terminal 5 in New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport with another to follow at Boston Logan International Airport’s Terminal C “soon after.”

“Customers have asked for a JetBlue lounge for years and we can’t wait to unveil our take in New York and Boston,” said JetBlue President Marty St. George in a statement.”Lounges have become an essential offering for the growing numbers of customers seeking premium experiences, and JetBlue’s lounges will further boost the value of our TrueBlue loyalty program as we expand our portfolio of JetBlue credit cards.”

The lounges will be part of the airline’s JetForward plan to increase premium perks.

JetBlue said when the lounges open customers will have “a relaxed retreat to play, work, and lounge as the airline expands its affordable premium experience from the sky to the ground.”

The lounges will be reserved primarily for the most loyal customers including holders of a new premium JetBlue credit card, TrueBlue Mosaic 4 members or Transatlantic Mint members.

All customers can buy annual lounge passes and day passes with guest passes available based on lounge space availability.

The New York JFK JetBlue lounge will be 8,000 square feet while Boston’s Logan airport JetBlue lounge will be 11,000 square feet.

They will include free Wi-Fi, free coffee and fully charged private workspaces along with other food and beverages.
