San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have signed multi-year contract extensions, the NFL club announced Friday, hours after winning to start the season 3-0.

Lynch, who was signed through 2024, joined the club in January 2017 and hired Shanahan days later. Together they have directed the 49ers to a 55-46 regular-season record over seven campaigns.

In that span, the Niners have had a 6-3 mark in the playoffs, including a 2020 Super Bowl loss to Kansas City and trips to the conference finals the past two seasons.

Lynch, who played as a defensive back for 15 NFL seasons, has assembled a lineup that includes trading for running back Christian McCaffrey, drafting tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel and landing quarterback Brock Purdy with the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Shanahan, 43, signed a six-year contract extension through 2025 in June 2020. He oversaw 13-win seasons in 2019 and 2022 and has sparked the club’s offensive success.

The 49ers beat the New York Giants 30-12 on Thursday night after opening with a 30-7 victory over Pittsburgh and then beating the Los Angeles Rams 30-23. They next face winless Arizona on October 1.

“I’m real happy to be 3-0 right now,” Shanahan said after his club defeated the Giants. “Now they can sit back and relax a little bit and enjoy how these last three weeks have gone and be ready to go on Monday.”
