Aug. 28 (UPI) — Nashville man Joseph Glynn pleaded guilty Wednesday to murdering his 76-year-old wife, Jackie, with a hammer in January. He faces a life sentence if convicted.

Jackie Glynn’s remains were found buried on the couple’s seven-acre property in Smithville, Tenn.

Joseph Glynn was charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse and evidence tampering. He pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to the murder charge and the other charges were dropped.

According to Deputy District Attorney Roger Moore, Glynn’s family noticed some unusual travel sites revealed by tracking apps. The tracking info led her son Chad Folk to a dumpster in McCabe Park, where police said he found some of his mother’s belongings.

Moore said Joseph Glynn confessed to hitting his wife in the head with a hammer at their home on Jan. 1. He then drove her body to property they owned in DeKalb County, burying her in a ditch previously dug by contractors.

She was buried in a vehicle cargo box.

During the guilty plea proceeding, Chad Folk said his mother Jackie Glynn was a loving mother and grandmother.

“My belief in Christ teaches me that hating the man that killed my mother won’t make that darkness recede any faster, nor does anger or revenge bring back Jackie,” Folk said in court, explaining that he and his family still love Joseph Glynn.
