The start of Donald Trump’s presidency is set to unleash even more volatility in Asian markets after his tariff threats have already wreaked havoc on the region’s stocks and currencies.
While the most hostile trade measures will likely be targeted at China, few companies in the region will be spared an impact as Trump’s “America First” policies force a rethink of supply chains. Such uncertainties may further weigh on stocks after MSCI’s Asia benchmark fell into a correction earlier this month.
